North Shore law firm

This website is here for people living or working on the North Shore of Auckland to provide a range of legal information that they might find useful.  However, a strong warning before you read any further.  The information contained on these pages is not formal legal advice. You must consult a lawyer in person so that they can fully understand your personal situation.  This is for guidance and background information only.

Lawyers here to help

So, with the disclaimers out of the way, what are we going to provide you with?

Our aim is to publish articles that are likely to be useful to people in many different situations.

We realise that when people consult a lawyer it is often a confusing or even stressful time. So our aim here is to make some legal points a bit easier to understand so that at least you are somewhat informed.  Again, we cannot stress too strongly that you must talk to a lawyer before you commit to any actions with any other party. A North Shore-based one may be convenient for you.

We find that while some people have unusual situations that need taking care of, there are some more common ones that most clients experience.

Among these are property related topics.  Most commonly is buying or selling a house. However experienced you may bet, you still need a property lawyer or solicitor to prepare the documents, check the details are correct and handle toe money transfers with the mortgage company and the vendor.

Closely related to this are commercial property transactions and people buying rental property for investment purposes.

Often aligned with property holdings is the topic of family trusts. Many people choose to hold their investment and domestic properties within a trust. We can draw up the Trust Deeds and then handle the subsequent sale and transfer of assets tot eh trust.  This has to be carried out under strict guidelines otherwise people can fall foul of the IRD.

And after the trust has been established, it is important that it is administered correctly. Again, failing to do so can incur tax penalties.

Another common area is for relationship property when couples separate.  Even though the allocation of joint matrimonial property is clearly written in law, we can still help people draw up the Section 21 document and handle the re-assignment of the various properties. For example, one spouse may be buying the matrimonial home from the other and so the Title Deeds need to be processed.

Another busy area for law firms on The North Shore is around commercial issues. Commercial lawyers can help with the sale or purchase of a business and all of the complex papers that go along with that. In addition, we can help with Shareholder arrangements for business partners.

Also in the commercial law realm are contract disputes, property and machinery leases and terms of trade.

The site will be built over the forthcoming months with new content added on a regular basis. So be sure to come back to the North Shore law firm site.
